Ancestor Worship in Andean Areas
Ancestor worship was very common in the Andean areas. Instead of always using prayers, some civilizations danced and chanted . Also sacrifices were made to the ancestors as well. The Incas were a civilization that practiced all these traditions for ancestor worship. When a member of the family died, the family would put the body in tombs or shrines and would pay tribute to the tombs through sacrifice. Royal people were mummified and were cared by official attendants. The Inca civilization offered sacrifices to their ancestors for communication to the gods. The gods were looked upon as nature for rain, wind, or fire. The Incas sacrificed many animals and humans to the ancestors for answers from the gods.
