Constantinople
Constantinople was built in 324 C.E by the Emperor, Constantine. Constantine had hoped to reunite the empire by building the capital, Constantinople, at the old Byzantium, for it benefited both the Romans and the Greeks. Constantine had later died in 337C.E. Constantinople was such an important city to the Greeks and the Romans because it was a city of trade for them, which led to the many different items and goods traded between the empire. Some of the items that were sold in Constantinople were woven goods, wines, and metalwork, which were traded on the silk roads. The population in Constantinople reached a population of about one million people. This was much greater and higher than many cities in the region.
