Alexandria
Alexandria, unlike other cities, was a port city. Alexandria was a popular port city on the Mediterranean Sea in northern Egypt founded in 331 B.C.E by Alexander the Great. The great light house at Alexandria, was one of the seven wonders of the world. At one moment, Alexandria was one of the world's most prosperous cities. The ruler of Alexandria was Alexander the Great, for he had founded it right after his army had captured northern Egypt. Many items were traded in Alexandria, such as gold, jewels, many different spices, perfumes, and silk. Alexandria was such a great trading port for the city could trade amongst others located on the Mediterranean Sea. Also the population in Alexandria was high for the number of trade in the city. The population was 300,000 people and slaves.
